Removing Excess Starch from Potatoes: Did You Know?

5 Oct

Did you know that you can remove excess starch by soaking cut potatoes in water for a few minutes?

For those watching their starch intake, this method works like a charm. While this does not remove all starch, it helps. After soaking cut potatoes in water then draining them, you’ll notice a light-colored powdery substance at the bottom of the container — this is excess starch.

As an added benefit, soaking also prevents the cut potatoes from turning a brownish-pink color due to oxygen exposure. Cool!
